My Creative Space

Even though I packed a full bag of craft supplies for my week away, I didn't do much more than paint with the kids and doodle in my sketchbook. As soon as I got home though, I was itching to sit down at my desk and create.

I have two major sources of inspiration right now:
  1. our collaborative sketchbook project winged its way back to my desk this week (you can see Angie's update HERE)
  2. loads of "started" pages in my sketchbooks and altered Amber book - while painting the kids (and with the kids), I used up all the leftover paint on sketchbook pages. This provides a colourful background and starting point for my pages.
I'll show you some more sketchbook pages later, but first, here is a look at the spread I worked on yesterday.
The left side was covered in a gradient of magenta and purple (from Jaden's bathing suit) while the right side was filled mostly with a pale blue and a bit of yellow (from the water). Here are some closer shots:
I liked the random blobs of India yellow on the right side, so I kept things simple, highlighting and doodling some words that show through the yellow bit.

I tackled the left side next, sticking with white, grey and blue collage elements and tying everything together with scalloped edges.
