Sketchbook Project 2012 (Part 2)

Here are sections 3 & 4 of my Sketchbook Project 2012. My theme was "forks & spoons" - you can find sections 1 & 2 here.

(small warning: a couple of these pages may be PG-13, depending how sensitive you are)
And that's that! Sorry for the overload in photos, it's for me mostly. I'm going to want to flip through this book again & will have to do it virtually. But the real deal will be residing in the Brooklyn Art Library (after doing its world tour) so if you want to check it out, you'll find it in the "Forks & Spoons" theme, under my name, Amanda Giesler.

Sketchbook Project 2012

Today's the last day to send off the Sketchbook Project 2012 & true to form, I'm mailing it now. If I have a deadline, I'm going to use it, right to the last minute!

Anyway, I spent the morning scanning all the pages so that I could have a record of the book front to back. Seeing as my book is rather long, I thought I'd break it up into 2 blog posts. Without further ado, here are sections 1 & 2, starting with the front cover:
These green pages are actually bright lime green - not sure why my scanner can't pick that up...
Similar to the lime green pages, these orange pages are bright neon, not pastel.
The blue page is the first page of the 3rd section... which I'll post along with the 4th section in a second.

What do you think so far?

Weekly Forecast

This week should be another busy one. I really want to focus on my job hunt this week. Luckily, I finished my Sketchbook Project today, so I don't have much else on my plate besides a bit of cleaning & catching up on a few of my projects.

Here's the plan for this week:
  • apply to as many jobs as I can find this week
  • attend a grant writing seminar at the hospital where I did my master's
  • print some photos for my aunt & mail them off
  • catch up on 366Pages & 52 Lists (still, I know...)
  • mail off my Sketchbook Project
  • organize the bedroom a bit
Not bad - I should be able to cross off most of those. I also want to figure out what to make for our Superbowl get-together this coming weekend.

As for blogging, here's what I'm thinking:
  • a complete look at my Sketchbook Project
  • my teapot collection
  • introduce my sponsors
  • the usual Wordless Wednesday, Creative Space & Project 52
Finally, I still have one free advertisement spot left for February - you can find the details here. Please don't hesitate to message me about it!

Have a great week everyone!

Mosaic Monday

It's Mosaic Monday! I hope you'll join us - it's really easy! Just make a photo mosaic - you can use whatever photo editing software you like, or a website such as the mosaic maker & photos from Flickr - & then post it on your blog. Go ahead & pick a theme if you want, but don't feel like you have to. Have fun with it!

Make sure to include a link back to my blog so that everyone can participate. Then come back here & submit a link to your blog post (using the "add your link" button at the bottom). I'll be looking at & commenting on each one!

Here's mine for this week: snow. It snowed all day yesterday & a couple inches are still on the ground.

Here's the list of mosaics for this week. Once you've blogged, click the button below to add your blog post link.

Project 52: 4/52

Already week 4 - here's my photo:
I'd love it if you'd participate with me in this challenge! The rules are simple - take 1 photo a week, for 52 weeks. No theme, just a photo of something that sparked your interest during the week. Feel free to use my Project 52 banner as well. Either right click on the image above & save it on your computer, or follow this link & download it from Flickr.

Once you've taken your photo, post it online somewhere & add your link in the submission box below.

ModCloth Order

My ModCloth order was delivered today! I must say, I'm impressed with the fast shipping (1 week!), as well as the well-packaged & cute box!
Sorry - I unpacked it before I grabbed my camera - but pretty, right?

Originally, I was browsing ModCloth for a cute dress - I've been wearing dresses & skirts pretty much exclusively the last couple months & they were on for a great price (some, like the one I chose, under $10!). I went with this pretty red & aqua heart-patterned dress:
Simple & sweet, I like the loose cut, the pockets & the elastic draw-string waist. It's a bit short though, so I think I'll get the most wear out of it in the summer, over short-shorts. It isn't bad with tights... as long as I don't have to bend - at all... Ha!

Anyway, it was really tricky getting a quick photo without setting up my tripod & waiting for better light, so I just went with a through-the-mirror shot:
Like I said - cute! I especially love how the pattern looks like houndstooth from afar!

Of course, I had to browse all the sections before checking out.... & saw this:
How could I resist?!
I'll try to get clearer photos in better lighting for my teapot Collections post, but for now these will do. You can certainly see how lovely it is! Great shape, lovely colours & a strainer basket for loose tea:
LOVE!
