I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

I'm back - did you miss me?

What? You didn't even notice I was gone??? Well... that's the beauty of scheduling blog posts! But I am back in Hamilton after a week-long vacation back home. I didn't take as many pictures as I wanted... no, I did take lots of photos, just not of a bunch of different things. I have a lot from my gramma's cottage, a few of my dad's garden & some from my "birthday party". There's way too much to put into a single blog post, so I'm going to spread it out (and hope I get to the last one, unlike the photos from the ROM... still haven't written up one about the gems & minerals!).

First, my birthday dinner. No, my birthday isn't until August 21st. BUT, my mom likes to see me open my gifts & make me a cake. How could I say no??? Besides, I love choosing a cake out of the cake book. This year, I decided on George the Giraffe (not to be confused with George, the tree at the camps my brothers & I used to climb in).He turned out pretty darn cute (though less than perfect). His head & ears are chocolate while the neck and nose are white cake. YUM! We decorated him with chocolate sprinkles, Smarties & 23 candles. I particularly liked the Werther's Original eyes. After a dinner of barbecued burgers, my mom lit the candles & everyone sang Happy Birthday.Eddy was so cute - grabbing candles & popping the bottoms (covered in icing) into his mouth.Mom dished it out, and everyone had a piece (except Pat - he was the photographer & too full of burger). In this picture, I'm on the left with my sister-in-law, Terri-Anne, at my side. Jaden & Edward are the kids, my mom is cutting the cake, my older brother Matt is in orange & my dad is lurking in the background.Awww, I love happy family photos. I miss my family - I wish they weren't so far away. It was wonderful to be able to spend a whole week with them - I only get to do that at Christmas time, and that time of year is always a little frantic. I won't be up again until Thanksgiving... I wish that wasn't so far away...
