Sketchbook Pages: Week 20

I've been collaging a lot more often in my sketchbook because of two small things: a tin and a folder. The tin contains scissors, a glue stick, a few spools of washi tape, masking tape and a selection of pens and pencils. The folder contains a small selection of papers and ephemera, as well as an old catalogue to use when applying glue. I rotate out the washi tape when the mood strikes. When the folder is starting to run low, I rummage around my craft room and bring up a few new items.

I'm really loving this system - it works really well to allow for quick collages with easy clean-up. And the limited supplies with frequent rotations keeps it interesting and inspiring.

Week 20 is when I started experimenting with my collage pages.

Typically, especially in my sketchbook where I'm only using a glue stick and no wet media, I will start all of my collages with just that: the collage. I'll lay out my papers and glue them down before finishing the page with other supplies. So mid-week, I decided I needed to mix it up. I started backwards, with the journaling and doodling and tape. By the end of the week, I'll stop planning the page out beforehand, simply pulling out all of the elements I want to use and proceeding as inspiration strikes. Next week, you'll see me take this over the top and then reign it back in.
