My Creative Space

This weekend, I spent most of my creative energy on the puzzle I showed yesterday. I started the 1000 piece jigsaw on Friday & my brother finished it on Sunday. It had been ages since I last tackled a puzzle & it was a lot of fun getting the whole family involved!

Now that I'm back in Hamilton, I've been spending most of my time on my Map Project. I think I've completed the front side:What do you think?

The next steps are folding, composing the mini history & transcribing it to the back of the map. I have a rough draft started already, so hopefully I'll be able to finish up next week.

Project 52: 14/52

Week 14 - here's my photo: My newest Easter decorations! My niece & nephews got me these. As I was unwrapping the boy bunny, Edward said: "That's Pat!" (Looking dashing in your scarf & overalls, Pat!) The girl bunny is obviously me (orange dress, paint brush, matching scarf - sounds about right!).

I'd love it if you'd participate with me in this challenge! The rules are simple - take 1 photo a week, for 52 weeks. No theme, just a photo of something that sparked your interest during the week. Feel free to use my Project 52 banner as well. Either right click on the image above & save it on your computer, or follow this link & download it from Flickr.

Once you've taken your photo, post it online somewhere & add your link in the submission box below.

SMASH* Book Update

Here's an updated look at my SMASH* book. You can see more pages in my book & the progression of some of these pages here. All pages are shown in the order they can be found in my book, though these aren't necessarily sequential.

Pages 6-7: a random assortment of good & great things - as yet incomplete

Pages 12-13: a collection of events (dinner receipts & ticket stubs)

Pages 14-15: random bits & pieces - as yet incomplete

Page 18: excellent quote from a great blog - as yet incomplete

Page 24-25: a single collage element - "la vie charmé" - as yet incomplete

Page 32: a lovely painting by Cézanne - as yet incomplete

Pages 62-65: a memorial to my grandpa

There are a few other single collage elements on some pages here & there, but I thought I'd restrict myself here. What do you think?

My Creative Space

I've mostly been working on my Map Project this week. I decided to make a second version - not only was I not completely satisfied with the way the land was tinted in the first version, but I want to keep a map as well.Win-win. So I taped my map up to the window & traced a second one (while standing precariously on a chair - my windows aren't in the best location for substituting as a light box for such a large piece of paper). I shifted a few things & added some more detail. Now I just have to figure out how to add colour to the land. I've also settled on what I'm going to do with the back of my map: I'm going to write out a brief history of the land I'm mapping. I think it'll make everything a bit clearer & more fun! I've started drafting that already - I just have to determine how to fold my map before I write it out formally on the back.

Home Decor: Spring Glassware

I updated my glassware display for spring.Mostly that meant changing out the flowers & rearranging a bit... but can you spot the new addition? If you guessed "that milk bottle" you'd be right!I snagged this gorgeous vintage milk bottle from my grandfather's house after the funeral (don't worry! I didn't steal it - I asked!). It isn't particularly significant & I have no memories linked to it, but my mom pointed it out in the dusty basement & I just had to have it. It'll remain a sweet reminder of my grandparents. The label on the bottle says "Georgian Bay Creamery Limited" but I'm not sure about its rarity or value. It doesn't really matter of course, I'll be keeping this memento as part of my home decor for years to come.

Mosaic Monday

It's Mosaic Monday! I hope you'll join us - it's really easy! Just make a photo mosaic - you can use whatever photo editing software you like, or a website such as the mosaic maker & photos from Flickr - & then post it on your blog. Go ahead & pick a theme if you want, but don't feel like you have to. Have fun with it!

Make sure to include a link back to my blog so that everyone can participate. Then come back here & submit a link to your blog post (using the "add your link" button at the bottom). I'll be looking at & commenting on each one!

Here's mine for this week: interview. I have an interview today at 12:30!

Here's the list of mosaics for this week. Once you've blogged, click the button below to add your blog post link.
